“There are over a million students in England having identified special educational needs (SEN). We need more support and resources going in that direction. Kim is attempting to change the status quo in occupational health by enabling the families and teachers of vulnerable pupils to develop the capacity to support them effectively. GriffinOT aims to provide affordable, high quality online children's occupational therapy advice for schools and families.”

About GriffinOT and Kim Griffin

Having worked in children’s occupational therapy (OT) since 2003, Kim Griffin is acutely aware of the challenges faced by over a million students in England having identified special educational needs (SEN). Students who have occupational health challenges, such as difficulty with handwriting or coordination, often wait nearly three months to see an OT and are left with inadequate support from schools, despite all the will.

In 2017, she began the process of taking her knowledge online with the goal of providing immediate and affordable access to OT expertise for educators and families supporting children with SEN.

Fast forward to 2020, her online platform GriffinOT aims to democratise children’s occupational therapy training by way of helping teachers and families develop the skills to effectively support pupils having special education needs. GriffinOT’s online resources include articles and courses on sensory processing and fine motor skill development.
