“We know that supporting teachers and leaders in the most disadvantaged areas is critical for achieving an inclusive education system. That’s why we are so excited for Football Beyond Border’s innovative new programme that addresses a key need in teacher training and development.”

About Football Beyond Borders and Stefan Imeson, lead intrapreneur:

Football Beyond Borders is an education and social inclusion charity who use the power of football to change the lives of young people.

Football Beyond Borders have won the Intrapreneurship Award to develop their Reflective Practice for Teachers programme.  This programme seeks to address the need for teaching staff to have a space to process the professional, emotional and relational challenges that come from working with young people with a complex range of needs. We believe this is crucial for ensuring that the most challenging and at-risk young people are given the best chance of building and maintaining positive relationships with their teachers.

Stefan Imeson is the lead intrapreneur.  Stefan grew up and went to school in Southeast London. Having worked as a secondary school teacher in Inner-London for 7 years, Stefan took on the role of Curriculum Lead at Football Beyond Borders and helped design their social and emotional learning-based curriculum. He is a qualified psychotherapist, and has just started his new role as Reflective Practice Lead where he will be leading groups both internally and with teachers in schools.

Stefan says, “My goal is to make this programme a key part of best practice in schools across the UK. I am thrilled to be working with the Fair Education Alliance and the network of prestigious organisations they bring together. I feel that the support and mentoring offered as part of the Intrapreneurship Award will give this project the best possible chance of having the impact I believe it can have and, ultimately, at benefitting the most at risk and disadvantaged young people in our school system.”
