We're so thrilled to have the support and expertise of the FEA behind our project - it will enable us to trial and grow a much-needed alternative to the current Early Years childcare offer.”

About The Stone Soup Cooperative Nursery,
Tiffany Day and Laura House

Tiffany Day and Laura House

Stone Soup Group are a group of parents from diverse backgrounds on a mission to offer more affordable childcare, with creativity and collaboration at its core. They want to set up a cooperative nursery in Walthamstow (led by and for the community),and share their learning so others can replicate their model. They'll offer life-changing educational experiences for children, and support parents to develop their skills and employability.

Laura is an experienced educator who wants to bring creative, meaningful and joyful educational opportunities to all children. Tiff has worked with vulnerable adults for 15 years and is passionate about improving social inclusion and participation for marginalised communities. Together, and with the support of their core group of parent volunteers, they want to offer a different model for childcare that works better for children and families: one that's people-driven and not profit-driven and builds on the experiences and spirit that already exist in their community.

As new parents, we care deeply about the importance of a child's earliest years. We're also acutely aware of the inequality in access to good quality childcare and the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on families. Winning the FEA Innovation award is a game-changer for us - it will increase our capacity to take this project to the next stage, and help us think strategically about how we can make the biggest difference, not only in Walthamstow, but also on a systemic level.” - Tiff and Laura.
