The Water of Systems Change
This report from FSG outlines how organisations involved in systems change can increase their odds for success by focusing on the least explicit but most powerful conditions for change, while also turning the lens on themselves.
The Water of Systems Change aims to clarify what it means to shift these conditions. We offer the “inverted triangle” framework as an actionable model for funders and others interested in creating systems change, particularly those who are working to advance equity.

We’re recruiting for three Head of Collaboration Partnership roles- one for each of our Mayoral Combined Authority areas. These roles will sit at the heart of our place-based work spending time embedded in their region each week, enabling deep cross-sector collaboration and driving system-wide change.
Our new strategy, From Neighbourhood to National, is rooted in systems change - tackling not just policies and practices, but also the resources, relationships, power and mental models that hold inequity in place.
By taking this system-wide approach, through our three core strands – Collective Voice, Collective Action and Collective Strength – we can bring lasting change.
