AI & Technology

We equip member organisations to harness technology and AI to increase their impact, and we adapt our own practices to maximise our impact. From testing tools that make our communications more accessible, to experimenting with data analysis, we are committed to using AI thoughtfully – always guided by our values of equity, inclusion, and collaboration.

We understand the dramatic way in which AI and technology is transforming the world, including for children and young people. We are committed to ensuring it strengthens, rather than undermines, the movement for educational equity. Therefore, AI & Technology is a golden thread that runs through all our work. We will think about it as part of influencing policy, shaping collaborations, and building members’ capacity for change.

Advocacy

AI will reshape how young people learn, how schools operate, and which skills are valued in future employment. Without careful attention, this risks deepening existing inequities.

We advocate for policies and practices that:

  • Anticipate how AI will affect education and employment.

  • Ensure young people from low-income backgrounds are not left behind.

  • Prioritise equity in government and industry responses to technological change.

Action in Collaboration

We embed AI considerations into our Collective Action collaborations:

  • Thematic Collaborations – exploring AI’s role in Early Years, Literacy, and Tomorrow’s Jobs.

  • Place-Based Collaborations – working with Combined Authorities to address local challenges and opportunities created by AI in education and employment.

Strengthening Members’ Capacity

We help member organisations build confidence and capability in using AI and technology to strengthen their impact.

  • AI Working Group – a peer network to explore emerging tools, risks, and opportunities.

  • Training and peer learning sessions on AI and digital innovation.

  • Showcasing examples of how members are already harnessing AI to improve their work.
