Your Annual Membership Update: what to expect

On Monday, members will begin receiving emails from the FEA team as we launch our Annual Membership Update process for 2026–27. We wanted to take a moment to explain what it is, why it matters, and what to look out for.

Since launching our Neighbourhood to National strategy and updated Member Guidelines in September 2025, we have been developing more intentional ways to strengthen our relationships with members, keep our information accurate, and make sure that being part of the Alliance is as valuable as possible for every organisation involved. The Annual Membership Update is central to that.

This isn't just an admin exercise. The information and feedback we gather through this process directly shapes how we work. It helps us connect members with the right partners, collaborations and opportunities; plan events and learning sessions that reflect your priorities; and strengthen our collective ability to tackle educational inequity. The more complete and up to date our picture of the Alliance is, the more effectively we can support every member within it.

The process has four elements, and each one plays a distinct role:

  • Organisation Information Update - much more than a Member Directory update, this helps us maintain accurate records across the Alliance: from making sure we have the right contacts at your organisation, to understanding your collective reach, identifying where support is strong and where gaps exist, and building a clearer picture of your context so we can serve you as effectively as possible.

  • Member Feedback Survey - your chance to tell us what's working, where we can improve, and how we can better support you in the year ahead. Your insights help us plan more relevant events, identify partnership opportunities, and refine how we deliver support across the Alliance.

  • URN Data Submission - for organisations working directly with schools and education settings in England, this data powers the FEA Ecosystem Map, helping members identify gaps, spot opportunities, and understand where support is already reaching young people.

  • Annual Membership Commitment - reaffirming your organisation's commitment to tackling educational inequity and to active, engaged membership of the Alliance.

Emails will begin landing in inboxes from Monday 8 June, each with a personalised dashboard showing the status of each element and direct links to complete them. Please look out for yours and get in touch if your organisation hasn’t received anything by the end of next week.

We also want to take this opportunity to say: your voice genuinely matters to us. Engaging with this process is an important part of what it means to be an active FEA member, and the feedback and insight you share directly shapes how we develop our work together. The Alliance is stronger for hearing from every organisation within it.

If you have any questions at any point, please don't hesitate to get in touch - we're here to help.
