Liverpool City Region Collaboration Partnership
Liverpool City Region: Working together to give every child the best start in life
We are excited to announce the Liverpool City Region Collaboration Partnership, working with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and partners across education, early years, health, employment and communities to transform children’s early childhood experiences.
This partnership focuses on Early Childhood – ensuring every child is supported to thrive from birth through to starting school. But the ambition is broader: to join up education, skills, employment, health and family support from early years onwards, building strong foundations for life.
We can’t wait to collaborate with schools, nurseries, health visitors, employers, local authorities, philanthropists, community organisations, parents/carers and FEA members across the region.
The regional picture
Population: around 1.6 million across six local authority areas
A proud and vibrant region with a strong cultural identity
Deep-rooted inequalities in early childhood outcomes
Strong assets in health, community development and innovation
Challenges in early years access, child poverty, and family wellbeing
71 Fair Education Alliance member organisations support children and young people in the Liverpool City Region.
Members are active in 592 education settings in the region.
Liverpool City Region is rich in culture, creativity and community - a place where opportunity has always been anchored in the strength of its people.
About the partnership
Together, we will:
Join up early years, health, education, employment and family support systems
Work with parents/carers, young people and early years professionals to co-design better support pathways
Strengthen collaboration between nurseries, schools, community groups, employers and local leaders
Ensure families have access to health, wellbeing and developmental support
Build shared evidence on what helps children thrive
Connect local learning to national policy and practice
A particular focus of our work will be supporting families and practitioners to ensure every child - regardless of background - arrives at school with the foundations they need to flourish.
“Every child deserves the best start in life, no matter where they grow up or how much their parents earn. By working with the Fair Education Alliance, we’re taking another step towards creating a fairer, more inclusive education system that gives every young person the chance to reach their potential.
This funding and support will help us build on the work we’re already doing to give every child the best start in life, helping us to scale up our Early Years initiatives and do even more to close the gap for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
“The challenges facing young people today demand urgent, collective action. No single organisation or policy can end educational inequity alone. That’s why this strategy places collaboration and innovation at its heart – working with FEA members, Metro Mayors and communities across England to create long-term change. Thanks to the support given by Bloomberg, we can connect neighbourhood to national and build a fairer future for every child.”
Neighbourhood to National
The Liverpool City Region Collaboration Partnership is part of the FEA’s Neighbourhood to National strategy. Insights from this work will feed into the Mayoral Combined Authority Network, a forum for all Metro Mayors and Combined Authority teams to share learning, align strategies, and act collectively with and for young people.
With a strong track record of partnering with cities across the UK and globally, Bloomberg brings unique expertise in convening leaders and stakeholders to accelerate systemic change. Bloomberg is joined by founding funder UBS, whose support for place-based change has been pivotal in progress for children and young people. Long-term FEA supporters A&O Shearman, Barclays Life Skills, IG Group, Mission44, and Paul Hamlyn Foundation are joined by The Dulverton Trust and Stratton Chase to ensure the success of this ambitious strategy .
