Chase and Status’ Will Kennard becomes a Fair Education Ambassador for the Fair Education Alliance

The Fair Education Alliance is pleased to announce that Will Kennard has become an Ambassador for the Fair Education Alliance, a coalition made up of leading UK organisations to address the persistent educational achievement gap between young people from the poorest communities and their wealthier peers. In his role as a Fair Education Ambassador he will aim to help raise awareness of educational inequality nationally.

Will Kennard is one half of music duo Chase & Status and is one of the biggest stars in British music. Will is also the founder of East London Arts and Music (ELAM) school based in Newham and is a passionate believer in the right of every child to pursue the career of their dreams, irrespective of their background. The new Fair Education Ambassador will join Sir Michael Wilshaw, Ella Cox, Russell Hobby and Sonia Blandford on a panel this Thursday to discuss the findings of the Alliance’s 2nd annual state of the nation report.

Will said: “I am proud to represent the FEA and work together, towards a shared vision.  Through my work at Elam and my experiences within the creative sector over the last 15 years I have seen just how important it is to level the playing field and ensure that no child is held back by a lack of opportunity through poor education”

Lewis Iwu, Director of the Fair Education Alliance, said: “I’m delighted to have Will on board. He’s passionate about opportunities for all young people, especially from the poorest communities. Will’s successful involvement in music and working with young people will help the Alliance reach a wider audience. We’re really looking forward to working with him”

The Fair Education Alliance will publish their state of the nation report on tomorrow.
