“The FEA are proud to endorse Life Lessons as a Scaling Award Winner, their focus on providing high-quality RSHE/PSHE education in regions of high social deprivation, building teacher confidence, and measuring impact are commendable. We are especially excited about the peer-led aspect of Life Lesson’s work. Having won the Innovation Award in 2020 and scaled to work with 15,000 pupils since then, we are very excited about the scalability of this model and its potential reach and impact. With the FEA's support, they aim to grow their school partners from 150 to over 1000, making a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of young people across the UK.”

About Life Lessons

We will establish Life Lessons as the trusted, go-to brand for high quality RSHE/PSHE education. With the FEA’s support we will grow our school partners from 150 today to over 1000 partners. As children from low socio-economic backgrounds are twice as likely to experience sexual abuse, we are focussing on regions of high social deprivation with the greatest need.

We will build upon our existing methods that ensure the views and diverse needs of all young people across the UK are met in our lesson materials; that they are current and responsive to the rapidly changing world and the influence of the internet.

We will work in partnership with schools, teachers, parents and local communities to ensure our products develop in line with their needs, providing transparency and evidence of impact.

50% of teachers lack confidence in delivering this subject (NSPCC, 2022) and therefore, we aim to grow teacher confidence in teaching RSHE, specifically their confidence in facilitating discussions and teaching the topics of consent, healthy relationships and sexual violence.

For pupils, we will measure engagement with the lessons, and improvements to pupil oracy again with a focus on consent, relationships and sexual violence. We will evaluate changes to pupil attitudes over time and long-term behaviour changes that indicate a healthier school culture.
